Talented Flower Arranging for the Chinese New Year
On January 31st 2014 the Chinese New Year 4712 begins. We leave the year of the Snake and enter the Year of the Horse. Those born in the year of the horse are said to be cheerful, skillful with money, perceptive, witty, talented and good with their hands. As a person born in the year of the horse, many years ago, you will have to ask my family and friends if this is true. But speaking for my self. You could say that I am skillful with money, if that covers having no trouble finding things to spend it on. I feel that I am a cheerful person and hopefully witty? talented? (well I certainly have a talent for making people smile, but then my life is often full of events that would make a good sit-com). As for good with my hands. As I am an aromatherapist , Infant Massage Instructor, use Makaton on a regular basis and am a flower arranger, I hope that my clients feel this is the case.
With that in mind lets talk about you using your talent and hands to make a beautiful flower arrangement for the Chinese New Year. Chinese culture has different flowers to represent the four seasons, for example. Spring: iris , magnolia Summer:peony, lotus Autumn: Chrysanthemum Winter: Plum, bamboo. Colours also play a big part, so choose Pink and Red for celebration, good luck and happiness. As the Chrysanthemum is symbolic of Yang energy and is said to attract good luck in the home you won’t go far wrong with a Pink or Red Chrysanthemum arrangement. If not have fun with what you can get and if all else fails, fake it.
Wishing you a very happy new year.
