Daffodils, dewdrops and dismal days.
Well March has arrived with a change in temperature. This winter has certainly been challenging in many ways, the weather doesn’t seem to be able to decide what it wants to do any more than the government does. Some days you can be hard pushed to find the positive. But we do have lots to look forward to this month.
We welcomed the month in on St David’s Day with displays of beautiful daffodils and as if by magic they began to hold their heads high in the garden and along the country paths to cheer us up. ” No garden or country paths” I hear you say,” well get some to decorate your house”, I would reply ” their cheery yellow will make you smile”.
Lots of my family and friends have birthdays this month, born under Pisces or Aries they have the stunning birth stones Aquamarine and Bloodstone. Lots to celebrate there.
Then we have Pancake Day, Red Nose Day, St Patricks Day and if you are lucky enough to live in New Orleans the amazing Mardi Gras.
Hard to find the bright side of washing the floor, when the dogs to come in wet, muddy and full of beans. But you know you did it, relax and enjoy and nice cup of tea or coffee, even add a cheeky biscuit and congratulate yourself on a job well done, before you shut the dogs in and start the task again. Better still, get yourself out of the house and meet up with a friend, the dogs won’t mind the dirty floor.
Dismal days are a good time to have a clear out, well this is what I tell myself, in truth they are the days I phone a friend and we escape to a garden centre to dream about what we are going to do when the weather improves.
This month will end on a very positive note when the clocks change, we spring forward into lighter evenings and the promise of warmer days to come.
If you feel down and dismal, do something to make you smile, put on your favourite music and dance and sing for a while. Pick up a phone and call a friend, or immerse yourself in a book. Garden, paint or take a stroll, to something to lift you out of that hole. You’re strong, you’re brave, you’re beautiful, you truly are unique and anyone who tells you otherwise has got a bloody cheek!
